Life can be tough and many of us go through times when we feel overwhelmed, anxious and deeply unhappy which has a negative effect on our health, family, relationships and work. During these difficult times it may seem impossible to see a way forward. Talking with a counsellor is a way of finding support in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental setting. Working together using guided self-reflection, we can talk through issues to gain a greater understanding of your thoughts and feelings and how they are affecting your life and relationships. Self-awareness assists with managing what is happening right now, recognising your emotions, finding acceptance and compassion for yourself, empowering you to move towards positive change in the future.
Welcome to my website. My name is Julie Mayers and I am an Integrative Counsellor based in Frodsham, Cheshire. In 2010 I experienced a life changing event, following which I began to assess what was really important to me. I embarked on a new journey which led me to train as a counsellor. Through extensive personal development and counselling training I have found new meaning and purpose in my life. Counselling has not only changed my life but I have been privileged to help others to change their lives for the better too.

Person-Centred Counselling also known as client-centred counselling - is an approach that deals with the ways in which individuals perceive themselves consciously rather than how a counsellor can interpret their unconscious thoughts or ideas. This type of therapy facilitates the personal growth and relationships of an individual by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression but can be used with other mental and physical health problems.
Psychodynamic therapy helps bring the unconscious mind into consciousness - helping individuals to unravel, experience and understand their true, deep-rooted feelings in order to resolve them.
Solution-focused brief therapy is an approach to psychotherapy based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. Although it acknowledges present problems and past causes, it predominantly explores an individual's current resources and future hopes - helping them to look forward and use their own strengths to achieve their goals.
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor with experience of working with both male and female clients of different age groups. I am an individual member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). As a registered member of the BACP I am obliged to follow their Ethical Framework which provides a benchmark for good and ethical practice working in a confidential, professional and respectful way. In addition to my formal training, my own life experiences and my varied career history have helped me to understand and connect with a variety of clients.
Initially I offer a 30 minute consultation, free of charge where we can meet and talk more about what you are seeking from counselling, discussing any specific queries you may have. If we decide to work together we will agree a regular weekly appointment time. Sessions normally last for 50 minutes and I can offer long and short term therapy based on your individual needs. Currently I am available on Saturdays at Castle Park however I may be able to offer evening slots at a different venue on request. My normal fee is £40 per session for individuals. Fees are payable at the start of each session by cash, card or Paypal.
